The short version

Your brokerage statement — every trade, every position, every dollar figure — is parsed and calculated entirely inside your own browser. Position Ledgers has no server that your statement data is ever sent to, uploaded to, or stored on. Closing the file or clearing your browser's storage deletes it completely; the only lasting copy is a Backup file you choose to save yourself, wherever you choose to save it.

A handful of things unrelated to your brokerage data do touch the internet — a purchase, an optional live-price lookup, an anonymous page-view count on our marketing site. Every one of them is listed below, plainly, with what it actually sends.

What never leaves your browser

This data lives only in your browser's own on-device storage (IndexedDB and localStorage — the same mechanisms any web app uses to remember things between visits) and in files you explicitly save. See our Security page for more on exactly what's stored and where.

What does touch the internet, and why

WhenWhat's sentTo whom
Buying a license Your name, email, and payment details Payhip (our payment processor) — never to us directly
Activating a base or Pro license key The license key you type in Our own small server-side function, which forwards it to Payhip to check validity — nothing is stored there
Clicking "Fetch Prices" (optional, requires your own Tradier account) Your open positions' ticker symbols and your Tradier API token Tradier's API, directly from your browser — we're not in this path at all
Visiting positionledgers.com (the marketing site, not the downloaded app) An anonymous, cookieless page-view event — no IP address stored, no cross-site tracking Plausible Analytics

That's the complete list for the application and the site's page-view count. Nothing about your holdings, trades, or dollar figures appears in any of these four rows. The one other place you can choose to send us something, the founders' list form, is described next.

The founders' list

If you join the founders' list on our marketing site, we collect your email address, and whatever you choose to tell us about which edition interests you, which broker(s) you use, and what you mainly trade. The last three are optional. We use it to email you about early access and pricing, and to understand what people want. The form is handled by our hosting provider's form service (Netlify Forms), which stores your answers on our behalf. We never sell it. To unsubscribe or ask us to delete your entry, email support@positionledgers.com. Your brokerage data is never part of this form.

Cookies

The downloaded application sets no cookies at all. The marketing website uses Plausible, which is explicitly designed to work without cookies and without collecting personally identifying information — see Plausible's own data policy for specifics.

Data retention and your control

Because your brokerage data never reaches us, there's nothing on our end to retain or delete on your behalf — deleting it is entirely in your hands, in your own browser: use Clear Data to wipe everything from the current browser, or simply don't save a Backup file if you don't want a lasting copy. Purchase records are retained by Payhip under their own retention practices.

Children's privacy

Position Ledgers is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Since this describes an architecture (nothing leaves your browser) rather than a set of business practices that shift often, we don't expect frequent changes.
